At noon time of January 1st of At Ty Tet (1965), on the way back to the Capital, Uncle Ho stopped for a rest at the school of Pham Hong Thai Commune, today is Hong Thai Tay commune. To commemorate this important event, the Uncle Ho Memorial Site was constructed in 1979 by the local people and government at the place where the Uncle Ho stopped years ago. Over twice embellishments and expansion of scale in 2004 and 2012, today the Uncle Ho Memorial Site includes of the Monument, the yard of ceremony and the garden of Yen Tu yellow apricot. 

The Uncle Ho Memorial Site becomes not only a place of political activities, the Uncle Ho’s ideology and moral education but also for traditional exchanges and education, meeting needs, aspirations and sentiments of the people of Dong Trieu to the beloved Uncle Ho. This is also the place visited by a lot of tourists when they arrive to Dong Trieu.
In 2014, the Uncle Ho Memorial Site in Hong Thai Tay Commune was granted as Provincial Level Relics by the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee.
