Name of the pagoda derives from name of the village. Old story says that when Tran Nhan Tong King was on Yen Tu mountain for austerities, people made feast to offer him, so that the name as My Cu was formed (My means grain of rice, Cu means being full).
The Pagoda is named as Sung Khanh, belongs to the My Cu Village, Hung Dao Commune. The pagoda was built on slopes of Che mountain, facing towards southeast, the front is a green rice fields, the behind is the mountain ranges, at far is the Que river. The Pagoda architecture is in shape of Dinh letter (a Chinese character), roofing with roof tiles of Le dynasty and roof tiles of Nguyen Dynasty, with top edge embossed two lions flanking. Inside the pagoda, architectural structures are made of wood, trusses, levers, protruding is elaborately carved. Systems of statues in the pagoda are carved with soft lines, brawny stems. In addition, the pagoda also has many valuable artifacts of history and art.Festival of My Cu Pagoda takes place from 10th to 12th of January every year, attracting many tourists from everywhere for attending, worshipping.
The My Cu Pagoda was ranked as architectural and art relics in 2000 by the Ministry of Culture and Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism now).
